The Red Seal Program is a Canadian standard of excellence for skilled trades, developed by the government in partnership with provinces and territories. It sets common standards to assess the skills of tradespersons across Canada. Tradespeople who meet the Red Seal standards receive a Red Seal endorsement on their provincial/territorial trade certificates. The Red Seal Exam is a multiple-choice exam that tests knowledge of trade activities and is used by all provinces and territories to issue a Red Seal endorsement. At last count, the program included 55 different trades, such as hands-on occupations.
